Biogas Plant (Bio Digestor)
You can make biogas from your farm and kitchen waste. It can be used in both rural and urban areas where the space is a constrain. For this you need a compact biogas production system called Bio digester. The immediate benefit from owning a compact biogas system is the savings in cost as compared to the use of LPG for cooking. It also reduce environmental problem due to dumping of garbage in municipal waste bins.A Bio digester is a tank, which aerobically processes the organic material that produces biogas. Bio digester is often also referred to as a biogas chamber, a biogas plant or an anaerobic reactor. There are many different styles of bio digesters, depending on the needs of the people using it and the local possibilities in building materials.
Bio digesters are used in many countries to process animal and certain plant agricultural waste. They can also be used as a sanitation system for the processing of human waste. The biogas yield from Gobar or cow dung is very low as compared to various other biomasses; therefore there is a need to design biogas plants for digestion of other efficient material. The widely available vegetative biomass (usually weeds) and Kitchen waste form the important material for designing efficient biogas models.
Construction methods for bio digesters are numerous. The fundamental principle is that the bio digester is airtight and watertight. Compact designs, which can control operational parameters, can provide better efficiency in biogas production, which varies with the temperature, acidity or alkalinity and pH of the mixture inside the tank, The pH in the bio digester tank should be as close to neutral (pH 7) as possible, since the anaerobic processes produce acids, which reduce the pH of the system. Tropical climates generally have no problems with temperature because the anaerobic bacteria thrive in higher temperatures (preferably 37 deg.c). It should be ensure that the feeds are free from chemicals including soaps and detergents because they kill bacteria.
Most biogas plants, which are currently in operation in India and elsewhere, are designed for animal manure as their main feedstock, and are therefore used in rural areas. Haritha Organic Farms has developed a compact biogas plant which uses waste food rather than dung or manure as feedstock, to supply biogas for cooking. The immediate benefit from owning a compact biogas system is the savings in cost as compared to the use of LPG for cooking. It also reduce environmental problem due to dumping of garbage in municipal waste bins.
The indigenous compact design of Haritha bio digester is economical in both the terms of production cost the system as well as the efficiency of the biogas production. It is compact as the size of a 200 Ltr drum. It is an extremely user friendly system, because it requires daily only a couple of kg feedstock, and the disposal of daily just 5 - 10 litres of effluent slurry. This slurry can be used as fertiliser for your garden and farm.
Haritha Organic Farms will be providing necessary technical advice for all those who are prepared to implement the bio waste treatment plant for the generation of bio energy. We undertake the feasibility study, preparation of projects, technology transfer, technical Information, Installation and maintenance of the biogas plants.
